Work went surprisingly well! Saturday was rough, because I was supposed to shadow my boss for the majority of the morning before trying a table by myself. People just started pouring in around 10:45 and I had to go off alone to make sure that there weren’t tables being ignored.
I had a table of 5 come in, and they were kind of finicky. I think that made my nerves kick in a little more, and I made a couple of mistakes with that table. They left happy, though! Or..at least satisfied. My mother and grandmother came to see me around the end of the day, and my boss let me sit down and eat with them. I even got a free meal, which was very nice!
Yesterday went so much better, though. Even with a party for 20, I had another waitress to work with this time. We watched over each others tables and made sure everything was going well. I was so afraid of messing up the order, but everyone got exactly what they asked for! I am going to email my boss tonight and see if the “trial run” went well enough that I can count on keeping this job.
I really loved working there. The people that come in are relaxed and easygoing. Everyone on the staff is the same way, they’re all nice to each other and they all try to help each other.
We’ll see how things go!
