♥I hope you all had a great Halloween♥
Did you all have fun and stay safe?
Today’s how to is all about nail polish, and how frustrating it is when you can’t get the bottle open! Sticky nail polish bottles are one of the most impossible things to be able to open. Sometimes, especially when you are messy like me, drops of nail polish are left on the neck of the bottle.
I tend to put the polish away without paying attention to what a mess it is, and then its a sad day when I try to open it a week later when those drops of polish have hardened into a cement that is the biggest pain in the rear to break apart to get the bottle open! Sometimes it becomes such a hardened mess that you can’t open it with bare hands alone.
Here are some tips to have you getting that favorite shade back in working order in no time!
First…
Get some hot (not quite boiling) water and a cup or bowl. I personally like to use a martini glass, because it is slanted just right for setting a bottle of nail polish in.
Besides, it’s cute!♥
Make sure that your polish is barely submerged above the cap, all you want to do is heat up the neck of the bottle so that the polish loosens up and you can get the cap off.
♥Wait about 90-120 seconds and remove your polish from the water♥
Sometimes you will still need a little extra grip to get the cap loose, so in times like these I will grab a rubber band and wrap it around the cap of the polish like this:
It gives me that extra bit of grip I need, and voila! Your polish should now open much more easily than before♥
In some cases, the polish will be a troublemaker and not open from hot water alone. If you tried the hot water trick and it didn’t work for you, I would suggest doing the same cup or bowl trick, but with nail polish remover instead of hot water.
We will need our polish remover out anyway!
After you’ve gotten the cap off, it’s time to clean up the caked on polish that’s causing all these problems. Take a Q-Tip and soak it in nail polish remover. Rub it along the screw-on part of the bottle to chip all that polish off.
Once that is all cleaned up, I like to use the other end of the Q-Tip and some Vaseline to make sure that any residue left won’t make me have to redo the water or polish remover trick the next time I want to use this polish.
Take a little bit of Vaseline and just like you did with the nail polish remover, coat the neck of the bottle!
Ta-da
You’re all finished!
♥Enjoy your nail polish♥
