em cosmetics is a relatively new brand to the market, created by
YouTube guru-gone-mogul Michelle Phan.
I’ve watched many of her videos, and I’m sure a lot of you have too!
So of course when I saw this powder compact I had to get my hands on it.
I purchased some other products as well, and I did talk briefly about the
em lip balm in my last post, I really love that balm! I would recommend
it for anyone who has dry or chapped lips.
But now, back to the product at hand!
This is the love me for me finishing powder
in ivory. Commence the “Love Me for Me” review!
I usually only use powder like this to keep my foundation in place as a finishing product.
But this product states that it can be used for everything from a finishing powder,
to using for touch-ups, or to using for your base!
I of course love the packaging, it is very sleek and stylish. The mirror inside the compact
is bigger than I expected, which I very much appreciate!
It comes with its own little sponge to use for application, and it feels like
it is of very good quality as well.
Everything about the “love me for me” compact is presented well and I was very excited to
try it out. I used it a couple of times on top of my foundation, just to set
everything in place, and I loved it. It worked well
and it gave me a nice matte finish without being cakey or sinking in anywhere that
it shouldn’t have!
Now, I decided to try it as the entirety of my foundation one day, and that
ended up being a big mistake. My face was not pleased with me and I knew it after only
having it on my bare skin for less than an hour.
My face started to feel very irritated and when I took the makeup off I noticed that
I had red patches on my cheeks and forehead, along with a bad breakout on my chin.
It took about 3 days for the red patches to completely go away,
but I’m still suffering with the breakout along my chin area!
It is getting better every day, so I’m not too freaked out, but I know better than
to ever put this on my bare skin ever again.
Please don’t get me wrong, I do think that overall this is a good product,
it works well under normal circumstances.
I don’t want to turn anyone off from the em brand or from the compact,
I believe it was just my skin and the product not liking each other.
I’m not going to put this on my face again until this little issue is cleared up,
but I am not afraid of using it as a finishing powder again,
as I had no adverse effects from using it that way.
I’m sorry that I can’t show you the effects it has on my face, because they are
quite nice, but I’m not going to risk that again!
So I’ve included a picture of the before and after on the back of my hand, instead.
You can see I have some splotchyness in the first picture, freckles and whatnot.
I didn’t have to use much of the powder to get everything covered well,
and like I said I don’t want to turn anyone off from this product or any others in the
em cosmetic line, because so far I do think that they are overall
very high quality and are great for makeup lovers as well as people who are
new to makeup and just learning about it.
Perhaps I will try the liquid foundation instead and see how
that works for me!
Have you tried any of the products from em?
Do you have a favorite one?
Let me know,
and I’ll see you all again soon♥

Aw, it’s a shame it didn’t work well on bare skin :/
I’ve been wanting to try em cosmetics for a while, they’re just so expensive! Too much for me :c
http://redsakurabeauty.blogspot.com/
It might work just fine on other people’s skin! It just didn’t work so well with mine, unfortunately. Definitely, they’re expensive! The only way I could afford them was a quick flash sale I heard about where everything was 40% off for a few hours. It made it worth it! Maybe they will have another one soon?
Great product review!!! I got some em cosmetics i want to review too but it’ll be up soon! hehe But like the blogger above me says, Too bad it didn’t work on bare skin, I think it would’ve been a great way to just have a little bit of coverage.
Evelyn<3
Thank you, Evelyn! It does work very well if you just want a little coverage, I’m hoping mine was a rare reaction and that other people don’t have any trouble with it! What kind of things did you get?
Ooo looks like an interesting brand, thanks for the post! followed you also! Would be great if you could check out my blog?:)
