I am not exactly one to jump on the Valentine band wagon, and this year isn’t really different from the last. I love seeing all of the flowers on their way to lovers across town, as by this time my hunger for the warmth and blossoms of summer is insatiable.
Growing up, I was always more of an observer of people and that has only become a more prevalent (née, creepy) part of my personality as I continue to grow. I think as odd as it sounds, I am happier watching people in love than being in love. To experience the emotions of another from their reactions to that stunning bouquet of long stemmed red roses and box of chocolates is magical to me. It’s such a special thing, to see these moments developing around you.
Maybe one year soon, I will have stories to share of my sweetheart and I inventing our own traditions to embarrass and spoil each other with. But for this year, I stopped by a local candy store, found vintage delights and wonderful dried mountain flowers instead!
