With all the negativity lately, I wanted to focus on love. Because love is much more important and powerful than hatred and jealousy. So excuse me for this entirely self-indulgent post.
Sometimes people can change us. Sometimes these people aren’t around very long, sometimes they are around for a lifetime. Sometimes you meet someone and there is a cosmic click and you know that you’re going to have this person around in some way or another forever, even if they aren’t always around to talk to.
I’m sure you’ve seen David around on my twitter if you follow me. Without going into too much detail, we’ve been friends since childhood (which I maintain is still happening currently), and I’ve always had a cozy feeling about him. He’s one of those good do-ers that motivate you to do more for other people as well. I wasn’t always that way, especially in my teen years. He showed me more than I think he will ever know on what it means to be a “good” person, and more importantly a good friend. I don’t know what I would do without him, honestly. I tell him that often, but I always feel like he needs reminding every now and again. After all, everyone has relationships that we outgrow for one reason or another. I’m lucky enough to have a friend that creates space for me to grow into, instead of growing apart from. I hope I do the same for him.
This was all brought to light recently when I was reminded that I had someone willing to “go to bat” for me, even if I never knew about it. That’s such a rare thing that I just couldn’t keep it to myself. He found this dress for me a couple weeks back and I’ve been promising pictures, so today I got them finished! Thank you David, and not just for the dress. ♥ So in honor of love, I’ve included pictures of my dearest loved ones at home and a beautiful dress from a loved one far away.
Also for those of you following me on twitter; you will know that I splurged recently on the bag of my dreams. I knew it wouldn’t be the easiest thing to get my hands on, but can I just take a moment to say to all of you:
If there is something you want badly in your life, whether it be a bag, a degree, a dream, go after it and don’t stop without trying your best. That may seem silly to say about a bag, but it is much more than a bag to me. It’s a little portal into my childhood, when Sailor Moon was the reason my sister and I ran home from school every day. It is a wonderful reminder of great memories and the promise of new ones.
It is not just a bag.
Thank you for humoring me as I had a lot of things in my mind needing organizing and getting out.
I feel better now. How about you? What are your favorite childhood memories?
