Spring has been popping up around the city for the past few days, long before it is time. If you look close enough, you can even see some blooms coming up from the soil, even though there is frost in the near future according to recent weather forecasts. This seems to happen every year. Every year it gets my hopes up, even though I know it won’t last. I soak up the sun as much as I can, and take in as much of nature as possible before the snow returns. But when I’m cooped up inside, dreaming about the days of less than 4 layers and the beautiful blooms that will come with patience, I like to bring as much of nature to me as I can.
Growing up a mountain and farm girl, I tend to find my happiest memories, thoughts and places in nature. I love to get lost in the trees and become invisible to the world. But when they are talking about 2 or 3 inches of snow an hour pouring down into the mountains, I prefer to stay here, in the city just past the unyielding winter a few thousand feet higher than me.
